Commentariat
A short history of politics in North America, as told through 'Savage Love' comment threads. In late 2008, comments were enabled on the online 'Savage Love' column. That is where the book Commentariat begins. Comment threads are known for being outspoken, sometimes vile, often funny places. The book is intense, full of big opinions and fighting words, political insights and very human moments illustrating how political engagement is performed today.
A series of fictional portraits accompanied the book launch; one-line drawings of regular commenters from the 'Savage Love' comment threads and book, based on my friends and colleagues who I would cast to play each character (in the movie of the book that I will never make).
